Great pub in the countryside, with a really good menu and great food. Was sunny enough to sit outside, but you do need to order back at the bar. Despite that the service was very good, highly recommend a visit.

We are holidaying in the area and called in for a Sunday Lunch. Good varied choice of menu Hubby had roast beef and all the trims I had the chicken, again with veg + yorkshire pudding. We both enjoyed our meals and would definitely re-visited if passing by - no probs.

Went for a meal here, not to stay in the hotel. Happy to report that it was a lot better than the last visit 2 years ago. The beer is nice, although maybe a bit variable. The food was good, but needed a bit more heating, which was done. But the service was great, and the menu variety really good, imaginative dishes are offered, lots of options too. The prices are very reasonable for both beer and food.

Truly beautiful pub on the top of the valley with amazing views across it from the beer garden. Food is great, we had venison with a blueberry sauce and the chicken pie. Both hot and delicious and good value for money. Inside is really cute traditional old pub vibes with small little nooks, lots of dark wood panel and open fires. Decent beer on tap from thornbridge brewery.

An unforgettable experience in the heart of the Peak District! We had an amazing meal at The Bear Inn — truly one of the highlights of our trip. The 16-hour braised ox cheek with red wine reduction was absolutely out of this world — tender, flavourful, and cooked to perfection. We also tried the fish and chips, which were beautifully crispy on the outside, flaky and fresh on the inside — classic done right! It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. Nestled in the stunning Peak District, it’s the ideal spot for a relaxing meal after a day of exploring. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be coming back!

We went for tea tonight as a family and had such a lovely time. The atmosphere was warm and cosy — perfect for a relaxed meal together. We all had the pie with triple-cooked chips, and they were absolutely incredible — the best chips I’ve had eating out! Everything was cooked to perfection, and the service was friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

Came here for a Sunday lunch after it had been taken over and it was easily one of the best we’ve had. We have since returned as a family, service is spot on, food is extremely good. Ambience is lovely and cosy too. On top of that, they catered extremely well for our Type 1 diabetic daughter, as parents were always grateful for this support. A great place that has really been turned around in a positive way.
